Welcome to T&J Models
We are dedicated to promoting the building aspect of our hobby by producing a line of plans and short kits of historic and unique aircraft. We pride ourselves on our innovative designs and the quality of our kits.
"A model built, flys better than a model bought." - Jim Young
Kit Features
Our short kits feature laser cut balsa and aircraft grade plywood, vacuum formed parts, full size plans, and illustrated construction manuals. You provide the sheet balsa, hardware, and a few odds and ends.
Gloster Meteor T.7 (Now Available)
Our
Gloster Meteor is scheduled to be featured in an upcoming issue of
Model Aviation magazine. The Meteor was the Allies first operational
jet, and it is still in service today. Our version has a 51.6"
wing span and is designed for twin Minifan 480, running brushless
motors on 4S Lipo's. Construction is traditional balsa and plywood. The
entire airframe is sheeted with balsa, glassed, and painted. Laser
cutting is used to realize the engineered wing spars that transfer the
flight loads around each engine nacelle. Several
jigs and crutches are included to ensure a straight and true airframe.
With the Robart retracts up, this plane really cooks!1/8 Scale Waco YMF-5
Our 1/8 Scale Waco YMF-5 was originally featured in the November, 2010 issue of Flying Models
magazine. This classic 1930's
biplane features traditional balsa and plywood construction. Several
jigs and crutches are included to ensure a straight and true airframe.
Based on our very popular 1/12 Scale Waco, it has a similar pull out
tray for quick battery changes. Since you may need to disassemble this
model for transport, we have designed the struts with spring loaded
hooks that slip into pockets in the wings for easy field assembly.
The recommended power is a Scorpion 3020-16 and 3200mAhr 3S LiPo pack.
It can be flown in a scale manor or it is capable of mild aerobatics. 1/6 Scale LTR-14 Turner Special
Our 1/6 Scale LTR-14 Turner Special was originally featured in the December, 2009 issue of Model Aviation magazine. This classic 1930's
racer
features traditional balsa and plywood construction with a foam core
wing. The
task of installing the scale fuselage stringers is straight forward
since all the notches are laser cut for a perfect fit. Options for
functional flaps are included.
The recommended power is a Hacker A30-10XL and 3200 to 5000 mAhr 3S
LiPo pack. Flight
performance is nothing short of great. This is one of the best sport
planes we have ever
flown. 1/6 Scale Wedell-Williams Model 44
Our award winning Wedell-Williams Model 44 is featured in
the May 2010 issue of Flying Models magazine. This classic 1930's racer features traditional
balsa and plywood construction with a unique wing latch mechanism for
easy field setup.
A integral laser cut plywood crutch makes the fuselage construction a
snap.
The recommended power is a Hacker A30-10XL and 3200 to 5000 mAhr 3S
LiPo pack. Flight performance is very stable and predictable. 1/12 Scale Waco YMF-5
This
30" span scale version of this beautiful golden age biplane
features traditional balsa and plywood construction. The airframe
structure
is as close to scale as we can get it with the proper rib and stringer
spacing.
Full four channel control makes it a nice performer. Power comes from a
geared
AstroFlight 010 and a 3 cell 1320 LiPo pack. Flight times in excess of
20 minutes are the norm while you tool around the sky. de Havilland D.H.-88 Comet
This
kit is of the famous long distance racer, the de
Havilland D.H.-88 Comet. This 50" span model features traditional built
up construction. The scale outline of the original has been
maintained. Enlarged wing tips and washout give this thoroughbred
racer gentle flight characteristics.
Hughes H-1 Racer
This 1/12 scale model of Howard Hughes H-1 Racer features a built up
fuselage and foam core wing. It is well suited for a variety of
brushless motors and 3S LiPo power. Originally featured in the August,
2006 issue
of Model
Aviation magazine, we can now
offer a complete short kit.
